Too Many Files Open

Have you ever had so many files open on your computer that you can barely remember which one you were supposed to be working on? One thing leads to another, and before long, everything is competing for your attention. Eventually, the computer slows down.

Sometimes, life feels the same way.

We can have too many files open at once—work, family, responsibilities, decisions, ideas, expectations, ministry, business, and the needs of other people. We move from one thing to another, trying to manage everything with our natural strength and intellect, yet there are moments when we simply don't know what to do next.

Romans 8:26 says, "For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us." There are moments when life feels like too much, and we don't even know where to begin. Prayer gives us a place to bring what we cannot sort through on our own.

Acts 1:8 reminds us that we have been given power through the Holy Spirit. That power is available when our understanding reaches its limit, when our emotions are overwhelmed, and when we cannot see the whole picture. We don't have to rely solely on what we know or what we can figure out. We can seek God for wisdom, direction, and strength.

Sometimes the answer is for God to help us manage what is open. Other times, He is asking us to close a file altogether. There are responsibilities, expectations, and commitments that belong to another season. Everything that needs our attention doesn't require our attention right now.

This is what I love about The WELL. We come thirsty, and God replenishes us. Jesus said, "Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water" (John 7:38). We were never meant to operate endlessly from our own strength.

So pause before opening another file. Ask God what deserves your attention, what can wait, and what needs to be released. You don't have to carry everything at once.

Come to The WELL. Let God give you the wisdom to know what to open, what to leave for later, and what it is time to close.
